Self-Care While Helping Others
It’s important to make sure we are taking care of ourselves as we take care of others. In order to be effective in our roles, we need to do everything we can to avoid compassion fatigue and burnout during times like these. We wanted to take some time to focus on you, the supporters and caregivers who make our programs possible.
The World Health Organization provides important guidance for all of us during this time.
Take care of your basic needs and employ helpful coping strategies- ensure rest and respite during work or between shifts, eat sufficient and healthy food, engage in physical activity, and stay in contact with family and friends.
The resource developed here highlights some important self-care reminders for caretakers in various roles during this crisis.
