AT and AAC Resources

A google home mini module sitting on a boxCommunication is an essential part of all of our lives. Supporting people to communicate and ensure that their communication is understood, may warrant an exploration of Assistive Technology (AT) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).  TechOwl, a part of the Institute on Disabilities (IOD) at Temple University, has developed a variety of resources specific to everything assistive technology-related on their website.   This includes some recent COVID-19 updates including resources on Cleaning your Electronic Devices to Fight COVID-19 and a COVID-19 Communication Assistant

Luckily, IOD has moved many of their planned training sessions to online webinars:

  • ABC’s of AAC webinar here
  • AAC and AT in the Time of COVID-19 Webinar scheduled for Tuesday, May 12th from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. -- register here

Are there other strategies or recommendations that have been effective for the participants you support? If so, let us know! Please send any suggestions or  questions related to this email or requests for additional resources to RA-basprovidersupprt@pa.gov
