AAW Optional Trainings 


This section contains supplemental Technical Assistance webinars conducted by the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP), Bureau of Supports for Autism and Special Populations (BSASP) for AAW. 

These trainings are not required but do contain important guidance about expectations and service delivery that providers are responsible for understanding.

BSASP PROGRAM SPECIFIC TRAININGS



ADDITIONAL PROGRAM SPECIFIC TRAININGS:


Providing employment services is more than just finding a job for the participants you support. It is also about building relationships with businesses while teaching them the benefits of hiring people with disabilities.  This training will explore how to broach these topics to provide optimal employment supports.

Although Supported Employment is implemented by staff specifically trained for this service, the entire team plays a role to transition a participant toward independence in the workplace. This training explains the importance of supporting one another for transitioning the participant’s skills, and creatively establishing and implementing a plan to fade supports for the participant to be successful.

This one hour training will present a re-conceptualization of getting people jobs in their communities. With a focus on developing employer relationships, this training will present strategies and tools to connect with employers in an effort to increase potential employment opportunities for the people you support.

This training will focus on Job Assessments and the recommendations that result from this process. Through this discussion, we will explore specific responsibilities of the Job Assessors as well as roles other team members should play, in order to support the individual to help meet their desired job outcome.

The “Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs – Bureau of Supports for Autism and Special Populations Pathways to Employment Tool” was developed to assist SCs in guiding conversations about the importance of employment as the first option for participants. BSASP conducted a Virtual Targeted Training on February 9, 2017 during which this resource was discussed.

This session will cover the steps to develop the Vocational Profile, including the training and submission process. During this training, BAS will review information provided in a January 2018 VTT, and also present a newly revised resource that shows the process of these steps. Additionally, there will be a walk-through of the clinical checklist used to review the ongoing submission to BAS for approval.
