This is part of the Terp Training Series with PA’s Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) and was presented virtually in American Sign Language on August 23, 2025. Interpreting for folks with intellectual and developmental disabilities requires a variety of specialized skills. Understanding the varying perspectives both within and outside of the community is essential to doing your best work. This session takes a deeper dive into the various tools that interpreters can employ when interpreting for people who have language fluency issues or idiosyncratic language that the interpreter may not be familiar with.
