This one hour presentation will provide an overview of assistive technology and Pennsylvania resources.
Learner Objectives: Attendees will be able to:
Describe the federal definition of AT devices and services
Give at least one example of low, mid, and high tech AT devices
Provide an example of AT that will assist an individual with disabilities in each of at least five functional areas
List two “access” and two “acquisition” activities undertaken by Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology and its regional assistive technology resource centers (ATRC).
Identify the assistive technology resource center serving their region
Presenter: Amy S. Goldman is an associate director of the Institute on Disabilities at Temple University where she directs Pennsylvania’s Initiative on Assistive Technology (PIAT), as well as Pennsylvania’s Assistive Technology Lending Library and the Telecommunication Device Distribution Program. Amy has specialized in AAC throughout her long career as a speech-language pathologist.
