Career Planning, Supported Employment, and Small Group Employment Services
Required Certifications and Trainings
This section contains information regarding the required certifications and virtual trainings for Adult Autism Waiver (AAW) and Adult Community Autism Program (ACAP) provider staff of the following services:
- Career Planning (Vocational Assessment and Job Finding)
- Supported Employment, and
- Small Group Employment provider staff
Completion of each BSASP training will be captured on the individual staff's training transcript. A copy of your training transcript will need to be kept on file at your agency.
REQUIRED CESP OR ACRE CERTIFICATION
ODP requires all staff in AAW and ACAP that provide Career Planning, Supported Employment, or Small Group Employment to have either ACRE or CESP certification.
Staff hired prior to January 1, 2021 must have one of the following by July 1, 2021:
- Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE); or
- A Basic Employment Services Certificate of Achievement from an Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) organizational member that has ACRE-approved training; or
- A Professional Certificate of Achievement in Employment Services from an ACRE organizational member that has ACRE-approved training.
Staff hired on or after January 1, 2021 must have one of the above credentials or training within nine months of hire.
Beginning July 1, 2021, newly hired staff who do not have the required certification when hired must work under the supervision of someone who is certified. This can occur for no longer than 9 months from the date of hire to allow the new hire time to obtain the certification.
REQUIRED TRAININGS LINKS:
- Career Planning Training: ODP-BSASP requires all AAW and ACAP Career Planning provider staff to complete the BSASP Career Planning Required Training as part of the qualification process prior to working with participants. See links below.
- Staff providing these services must also complete standard ODP required orientation and annual training
- SPeCTRUM Training : ODP requires all staff in AAW and ACAP complete SPeCTRUM prior to working with BSASP participants (click on title to be redirected to this page).
- Goal Attainment Scaling (GAS) Training: Although the GAS is not part of the INITIAL REQUIRED TRAINING for AAW and ACAP employment staff, ODP required each Employment Goal and Objective to have a corresponding GAS chart. Any staff developing GAS charts are required to pass the MyODP GAS submission prior to developing them for a participant. As a result, it is recommended that this training be completed shortly after hire (click on title to be redirected to this page). NOTE: *The staff seeking qualifications for GAS need to submit a fictitious (i.e., NOT on an actual participant) GAS chart and datasheet into MyODP for approval prior to developing GAS charts and datasheets for participants. This link will be made available after the staff completes all of the GAS trainings.*
